Gabi Benitez

Gabi Benitez is an Argentinian-Canadian artist, based in the Outaouais, Gatineau, Quebec. Her journey as a Latina immigrant in Canada has been a defining influence, shaping her multidisciplinary exploration of dwelling and space-making during her OCAD MFA studies.
Rooted in the tangible experiences of materiality that surround us, Gabi's recent installations are visual dialogues with her personal engagement and the spaces we inhabit. Her artistic philosophy revolves around 'thinking through making,' a concept that emerged from her earlier studio practices and teaching experiences across various educational levels. Gabi's initial MA research in education for the arts further fueled her passion for the transformative power of creative work.
Having dedicated years to fostering artistic growth, Gabi served as a Studio Art Technologist with BFA students at Algoma University in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. She is currently immersed in a full-time exploration of photography, printmaking, object making, and video, delving into the realms of nature-cultures, biophilia, and the human internal entanglement with them.
Gabi Benitez's work is a visual narrative that transcends media, inviting the viewer to contemplate the intricate connections between human perception, the environment, and the delicate interplay that shapes them together.
