
ART+ GRANT WRITING PROGRAM
APPLICATION DEADLINE: May 1, 2025
The ART+ Grant Writing Program is open to Indigenous, Black, POC, and newcomer artists living in the National Capital Region. Learn from experts the key elements, tools, and practices to consider when writing a grant. All sessions will have a theoretical and hands-on component to work directly on your application.
The program structure follows the assessment criteria used by most Canadian arts funders: artistic merit, viability, and community impact.
Participants will learn how to:
1. Identify different levels of funding: Municipal, Provincial, National, and Private (foundations, corporate, etc.)
2. Understand the criteria for eligibility
3. Understand the criteria of assessment
4. Writing techniques to work on art statements, project descriptions, and artistic CV & Bio
5. Develop accurate timelines and budgets
6. Partnership development

Participants must commit to attending all sessions

Program fee: $30 + HST (subsidies available)

The program will use a clinic format. Participants will learn by working on their grant application

All participants must bring their laptops and submit their work after the session for additional feedback (if you don't have a laptop, please let our team know, and we will provide one during the session - limited availability)

Graduating participants will receive a certificate from the Ottawa Arts Council, Arts Network Ottawa (ANO), and the Multicultural Artists' Coalition (MAC-CAM)

3. Community Impact and Graduation Celebration
Meet potential community partners and learn how to pitch your project to them. By the end of the session, we will celebrate your accomplishment in finishing the course and give you a signed certificate of participation.
