Akshata Rao

Akshata Rao is a semi-classical and Indian folk dance exponent with over 20 years of experience. She is formally trained in Bharatnatyam, a South Indian classical dance style.
Akshata's efforts are dedicated to teaching and performing Indian semi-classical and folk dances embedded in classical technique, while making them relevant to the younger generations, and across cultures.
Through performances and workshops, Akshata shares her love for rhythm, movement and the Indian culture by engaging children, youth and adults. She has been recognized for her artistic and teaching skills through various community events, including performances at Parliament hill and the National Arts Centre (NAC).
