Kezi

I am Kezi, a singer/songwriter from Burundi, who's lived in Canada for 6 years. I am the daughter of a great traditional musician, from whom I learned everything I know. According to my father, I could sing before I could speak. I started dancing at 6 years old, learning the piano at 9, playing the guitar at 13 and writing my own songs in 2020. Since then, I’ve done shows in Kigali and Ottawa. Through open mic nights in Ottawa, I’ve connected with other local musicians, and started to develop a deep connection to my community -- something I hadn't experienced since I left home in 2012.
