Nelson Gamboa is an artist originally from Colombia. He studied at the Art Student League of New York, Academy of Art Canada, George Brown College, Toronto School of Art and the Art Gallery of Ontario. 

 

He has collaborated with prominent artists around the world such as Jason DeCaires Taylor on the Underwater Museum (MUSA) in Cancun, Mexico and Lea Vivot in Canada helping with the creation of large-scale sculptural projects. He also worked with artist Gary Smith on large mural projects for the city of Toronto.

 

The preferred media for his paintings is coloured pens, inks and acrylic paint because, being easily transported, they allow him to be flexible, more expressive and spontaneous in his representation of energy, ideas and reality. For his sculptures, he uses driftwood and different natural materials to minimize his impact as an artist on Mother Earth.

His spellbinding artwork conveys his fascination for humanity, nature and sacred wisdom by combining ancestral symbolism, knowledge and colours with spiritual intention. His primitive art form allows him to connect and relate a subtle message of consciousness and awareness creating unique and powerful pieces.
